My first blog

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

Actually I already have a blog and my wife also has a blog about our daughter. But today I want to try once again in friendster. Some people have their blog in friendster, so let’s see the difference…

I’m an Indonesian living in Germany. Being a foreigner in a country  that is used to  face problem  with once-blue-collar immigrants already  leads you  to question,  if  patriotism and humanity could be coupled together. As some immigrants grew up and bore their new second and third generations which already absorb their new homeland culture, German media and politicians  seem likely to expose minority anomalies: a burqa-covered-woman in a magazine cover, forced marriage for Turkish and Arabic girls, and of course "radical tendence" amongst young foreigner immigrants. This leads primarily to really misunderstanding and general accusation like people’s refusal of new mosques.
Of course in the other side true that some people are not transparant enough: they don’t speak in German and therefore nobody knows what they are thinking of and produces some questions if they hide something. This is the problem of the immigrants’ groups as well as the society itself. Another problem is that there is no "internal security" to prevent their youngs to be influenced by radicals. Well it isn’t an easy job, because normally the radicals recruit their new followers out of sight of "official" religious clerics, and therefore they make some cells difficult to be detected. But as a proverb says, Trust is expensive. They should spend more efforts of that.
This is the price one should pay for. But as the situations getting worse, specailly in form of general accusations from the both sides, I’m feeling no longer secure here. I was not thinking of being migrated to Germany, and now it’s even more clear that I wouldn’t do it.
